HEALTH SERVICES
MAAC Project's Health Services is composed of a variety of programs including Recovery Homes for men and women, Drug and Alcohol Counseling Services and Home Weatherization Services.
MAAC Project has developed specific treatment services to address the high rate of alcohol and drug abuse. To help increase the chance for a person to achieve long term sobriety, great effort is made to provide services from a bilingual and cultural context.
The MAAC Project DUI Program provides individual counseling, group counseling and educational services to persons 18 years of age and older, who have been charged with driving under the influence and referred by the Court, Probation, or the Department of Motor Vehicles as required by Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations. The MAAC Project DUI Program is licensed by the State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs contracted by the County of San Diego.
Counseling and Education Classes are provided in English and Spanish. It is important to realize that participants in the DUI Program come from every walk of life. They do not attend the facility on a daily basis. The “average” participant attends the program one time a week for a group and education class. The individual face to face sessions are usually scheduled on the same day as another activity. Some participants only attend the facility once a month for a period of six months.
Healthy Homes
The MAAC Project Healthy Homes Department has been providing weatherization services to low-income families in San Diego County since 1978. The goal of the Weatherization Program is to reduce heating and cooling cost for low income families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes and ensuring their health and safety.
MAAC Project’s Healthy Homes Department works in partnership with San Diego Gas & Electric Energy Team, Richard Heath & Associates, the Department of Community Services and Development (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program & Department Of Energy Program), San Diego Housing Commission and San Diego Healthy Homes Collaborative.
Recovery Homes
MAAC Project has developed specific treatment services to address the high rate of alcohol and drug abuse. To help increase the probability for a person to achieve long term sobriety, great effort is made to provide services from a cultural context. Two specific social model programs demonstrating MAAC’s mission in action are Casa De Milagros and Nosotros; two bilingual, state licensed, long-term residential recovery homes for individuals with alcohol and drug abuse problems. Both programs are contracted with San Diego Alcohol and Drug Services and Mental Health Systems, Inc. Referrals are accepted from various programs such as, Parolee Partnerships Program (P3), SASCA and SB 1453.
