MAAC Project has developed specific treatment services to address the high rate of alcohol and drug abuse. To help increase the probability for a person to achieve long term sobriety, great effort is made to provide services from a cultural context. Two specific programs demonstrating MAAC's mission in action are Casa de Milagros and Nosotros; two state-licensed residential recovery homes for individuals with alcohol and drug abuse problems.
Casa de Milagros provides a home-like, safe, and supportive social model environment to help residents in their recovery process that leads to a new path in the mainstream of society. Individual and group counseling, alcohol/drug education, in-house AA/NA meetings, recreational activities, and career counseling are some of the methods utilized to help Casa female residents attain sobriety, self-esteem, and self-sufficiency.
Nosotros' goal is to enable residents to become responsible, sober, drug free, and productive members of society. Residents work with certified substance abuse specialists and vocational rehabilitation counselors, emphasizing behavior modification that results in positive attitudinal changes. Senior residents become dynamic role models serving as big brothers for other residents.
