NCLR AmeriCorps

NCLR AmeriCorps members are integrated within numerous MAAC services and partner programs to provide literacy tutoring, youth leader mentorship, and asset building/income support services.

MAAC is a proud affiliate of NCLR (National Council of La Raza) and appreciates the partnership with AmeriCorps to enhance our programs, while offering service-minded volunteers valuable, hands-on career experience. Members generally work with MAAC for a period of one year, after which they are eligible to receive a financial award towards their education.

Annually, our members join NCLR AmeriCorps across the country for a “Day of Service,” usually held on the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. In 2013, our members volunteered at the All People Celebration in San Diego, which attracted nearly 1,000 guests.
